I have no right to push my personal food choices on you. People who think that it is an ethical choice need to seriously be educated about where a considerable amount of their produce comes from if they shop at super markets. Vegetarianism is a personal choice. Yes, you can inform people about some of the horrors of the factory farm industry, but it is, in no way, a perfect life style choice that eliminates the exploitation of people or animals for food. I can see arguments arising about shopping at farmer’s markets and things, but not everyone has access to them, plus they’re seasonal in the area I live in. Soooo. tl;dr. Don’t force your food choices on everyone else, also educate yourself about where your food comes in all diets that you may choose. THANKS.
More simply, on the concept of donating organs itself:
Why does anyone donate organs?
- For science
- To save lives
- To fulfill a sense of responsibility to society
- It seemed like the neat thing to do
When you donate organs, particularly a VITAL LIFE-GIVING one, we can safely assume that you’re dead (as opposed to a kidney or something that you can function with only one of or anything else in that vein). Post-mortem, you are essentially doing something for the betterment of somebody else. As a Muslim, if somebody was compatible with my, I dunno, intestines or something and - gasp - that person eats pork and drinks alcohol, SO WHAT? My death and subsequent donation of my organs has helped someone else. End of story.
